La importancia de la moda sostenible

 En los últimos años y a raíz del cambio climático, la pandemia y noticias sobre explotación en el mundo de la moda se empezó a escuchar los términos moda circular, moda sustentable, armario sostenible, etc. Que buscan mejorar los procesos de producción en el sector de la moda, considerado uno de los más contaminantes. En esta entrada quiero hablarte un poco de estos conceptos y cómo es que puedes adaptar esta iniciativa en tu consumo de moda de esta manera estarás contribuyendo al cuidado medioambiental.

They seek to improve production processes in the fashion sector, considered one of the most polluting. In this post I want to talk to you a little about these concepts and how you can adapt this initiative to your fashion consumption in this way you will be contributing to environmental care.

La moda sostenible consiste en comprar de manera consciente e inteligente, dejando de lado las compras por impulso, el querer llevar todo el tiempo lo último de las tendencias sin importar si estás van con tu estilo personal o si resultan funcionales con tu estilo de vida, o peor aún si este comportamiento afecta a nuestro planeta, llenando tu guardarropa de prendas que a la larga no vas a utilizar.

Moda sostenible: La moda sostenible se basa en tres pilares, reducir, reciclar, reutilizar, que buscan cambiar la forma en que pensamos y cómo consumimos. En ese sentido nos impulsa a darle nueva vida a lo que ya tenemos en nuestro armario ya sea transformando nuestra ropa, rescatando prendas que teníamos olvidadas y deshaciéndonos de las que ya no hemos usado por mucho tiempo. En los últimos años se gestó el concepto "fast fashion" un modelo industrial que aceleró el proceso de producción de prendas para masificar tendencias y microtendencias, haciendo que los consumidores compren continuamente, ofreciendo prendas de baja calidad (usar y botar) colocando a las personas en una espiral que promueve la sobreproducción (¡Más de 50 colecciones por año!) la compra indiscriminada de prendas,  que a su vez  termina en un vertedero de ropa que contaminan el medioambiente.

Moda circular: Este concepto busca involucrar y optimizar las diferentes fases del proceso de producción de manera ética, respetuosa, justa y equitativa evitando la explotación laboral, mejorando las condiciones laborales de los trabajadores de los países productores (Recordemos el accidente en Rana Plaza en el año 2013) la emisión de gases contaminantes por las largas rutas para transportar la producción desde la planta principal hasta los almacenes, el consumo excesivo de agua en la producción de prendas, la moda circular hace más conscientes a los responsables del rubro de transformar y reutilizar los residuos textiles, alargando su vida útil y reduciendo el impacto en la naturaleza.

Cómo tener un armario sostenible.

Como consumidoras podemos poner nuestro granito de arena evaluando la forma en cómo consumimos, eligiendo marcas sustentables, moderando nuestras compras.

• Invierte en prendas atemporales que te duren a lo largo del tiempo, elige materiales de buena calidad.
• Transforma las prendas que ya no te gustan, de esta manera renuevas tu closet y ayudas a la economía local dando trabajos a las costureras.
• Hay ocasiones en que alquilar es mejor que comprar, una boda o un evento en el que nos conviene alquilar un vestido y no comprarlo para que luego se quede refundido en nuestro guardarropa por los siglos de los siglos.
• Vende tu ropa, usa ese dinero para comprar una nueva prenda o ahórralo, así no sacrificas tu economía, otra opción es regalar o intercambiar las prendas que ya no usas. 
• Compra prendas de segunda mano, te sorprenderás de las piezas increíbles que puedes hallar en una tienda vintage.
• Evita hacer compras por impulso, piensa si lo que compras va acorde con tu estilo de vida.
• No seas esclava de las tendencias.

Se espera que para el año 2050 se establezca un modelo económico neutro en carbono, respetuoso con el medio ambiente, libre de toxinas y totalmente circular. Todo esto en la actualidad nos deja algunas interrogantes ¿Cómo queremos consumir en el futuro? ¿Cómo afecta nuestro consumo al cuidado del planeta?

How to have a sustainable wardrobe.

As consumers we can do our bit by evaluating the way we consume, choosing sustainable brands, moderating our purchases.

• Invest in timeless garments that will last over time, choose good quality materials.
• Transform the clothes that you no longer like, in this way you renew your closet and help the local economy by giving jobs to the seamstresses.
• There are times when renting is better than buying, a wedding or an event in which it is convenient for us to rent a dress and not buy it so that it can later be recast in our wardrobe forever and ever.
• Sell your clothes, use that money to buy a new garment or save it, so you don't sacrifice your economy, another option is to give away or exchange the clothes you no longer wear.
• Buy second-hand clothes, you will be surprised at the incredible pieces that you can find in a vintage store.
• Avoid making impulse purchases, think about whether what you buy matches your lifestyle.
• Don't be a slave to trends.

It is expected that by 2050 an economic model that is carbon neutral, respectful of the environment, free of toxins and fully circular will be established. All of this currently leaves us with some questions. How do we want to consume in the future? How does our consumption affect the care of the planet?
